At New York Fashion Week: Made With Intention on February 16, 2026, we were honored to participate in the panel “The Rise of Intelligent Fashion”, moderated by fashion tech leader Karen Zhang. The discussion explored how innovation, design, and sustainability are shaping the future of fashion, alongside fellow panelists Kimberly Morgan and Leela Porges of Procode Dress.
We shared our journey with WearOpal’s personal safety smart ring, a discreet wearable that connects users to 911 and emergency contacts with just three presses. Through research with over 200 women, we found that while interest in wearable safety devices is high, adoption remains low when design is overlooked. This insight shaped our approach: safety technology must also be fashionable.
Looking ahead, we see wearables evolving toward invisible integration, blending seamlessly with everyday jewelry. By miniaturizing our hardware and designing pieces that are both functional and stylish, we aim to empower people to feel safe and confident without compromising personal style.
Sustainability is also part of our process. Our made-to-order approach reduces waste, allowing customers to select their ring size and stone, ensuring each personal safety smart ring is tailored to the individual.
We also want to thank Doors NYC and 99 Yards for supporting the panel and helping make the conversation possible.
The panel highlighted how intelligent fashion is evolving to combine performance, beauty, ethics, and technology, a vision we are proud to advance through our wearable safety solutions.
